13 Day Rule Survey

The GCCF would be very interested to learn the views of the Cat Fancy on the 13 Day Rule which seeks to minimise the risk of infection at shows.

It is an on line survey and should only take 5 minutes or so to complete.

Please click this link to take the survey www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/13DayRule

Suggested Change to Show Sections

There will be a proposal at the June Council meeting to re-structure the sections and Grand class groups at GCCF Shows. The purpose of this is to even up the sections based on the number of breeds recognised now, and cats shown currently. It should build in flexibility for the future. The rationale has been carefully worked out and is set in detail beneath the lists in the attachment to this mail.

The Board is publishing this ahead of the Council agenda so that comment from the clubs can be considered at its next meeting on 3rd May. Please send any comments by 1st May at the latest to clubsec@gccfcats.org or directly to me at the address below.

This is a preliminary consultation and not a substitution for debate in Council which will take place as usual. Individual breeders or exhibitors who have strong feelings have been advised to get in touch with their breed club secretaries to make these known; so be aware that you may be contacted by some of your membership in addition to those you circulate to directly.

Rationale:

Current sections are unevenly balanced with SLH/Foreign sections being heavily over-subscribed, therefore competition for higher titles is unevenly weighted throughout the current sections.

Breeds have been grouped according to overall body type starting with the shorter coupled, cobby bodies through to the longer, finer boned body shape.

“Name” specific sections have been removed so as to allow for up and coming breeds currently unrecognised to be accommodated in the appropriate section according to their body type.

No judge already entitled to undertake a Grand or Imperial class will be disadvantaged.

To improve Judge training it is proposed that judges will be “trained” within a grand group list rather than by an individual breed list.
